(Dis)satisfaction Report

According to a February 16, 2007 report from the Conference Board, only 47% of Americans are satisfied with their work. A few decades ago, that number was more than 61%.

Workers younger than 25 years old have the lowest satisfaction rate – 38.6%. In the 45-54 age group, 45% said they were content with their jobs.

What’s the source of this angst? Workers cited dissatisfaction with their bonus plans, promotion policies, performance review processes, workload, work/life balance, communication channels and potential for growth in their jobs.

Not surprising that two out of every 10 employees do not see themselves in their current jobs a year from now. They might even be meeting with a career coach right now. I’m a cheeky monkey!!
